Tristan Royalty Squad (headliner plays 6:30pm-9ish)

This impressive 10-member squad boasts lively Afrobeat, Highlife, new Orleans and Dub music; a perfect evening.

Forming in late 2009, this 10-piece band has quickly garnered an enthusiastic and loyal following. Drawing from the collective inspiration of their rhythm section; Cecilio Negron Jr., Roman Edirisinghe and Dave Schoepke and from the De La Buena/Kings Go Forth family, the musical force of Dave Wake, Eric Jacobson, Aaron Gardner and Dr. Michael Pauers the music has humbly been moving audiences with every performance. Led by Matthew's Turner & Wilson and fronted by charismatic vocalist, storyteller and griot Baba Teju Ologboni, the vision of global awareness and the hope for peace is truly alive. Tristan Royalty Squad is a band on a mission.

John Stano (opener plays 6pm-6:30pm)

The trademark of singer/songwriter, John Stano’s individual sound is a distinctive blend of acoustic guitar, harmonica and expressive vocals, developed over many years of

performance and study. John plays six string, twelve string and National steel slide guitar.  He is a fine rack style harmonica player, whose tasteful fills and inventive leads intertwine with and complement his guitar arrangements.  Initially self-taught, John went on to study American fingerstyle guitar at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and harmonica with national blues legend, Jim Liban. ‘Sing Out!’ compared John’s music to early Bob Dylan while ‘Dirty Linen’ was reminded of Country Joe McDonald.  His style could be described as acoustic folk-blues but John’s influences also include urban blues, rock, beat poetry and contemporary acoustic music.  A skillful use of language adds spark to his lyrics. John Stano was a ‘Big Top Chautauqua Songwriter of the Year finalist  for 2010.’  Recently John took first place in the solo/duo category at the Grafton Blues Challenge.  As a result he will be competing in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis this winter.
