COVID-19 necessitates reimagined 2020 Halloween
Statement of Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic
October 6, 2020
Bay View is home to one of the city’s most lively trick-or-treating events in Milwaukee. Families from across the area will come to Bay View to walk the streets and enjoy the festive decorations and Halloween spirit cultivated by neighbors.
This year however, we must reimagine many things including Halloween as we continue to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Milwaukee Health Department have all recommended against in-person trick-or-treating this year and as such, in partnership with the Bay View Neighborhood Association , the designated trick-or-treat window in Bay View from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, October 31 has been cancelled and traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating is being discouraged.
While we know this is disappointing for many, the health and safety of our community must remain the top priority especially as our state has seen a large spike in new cases.
I want to thank residents for their flexibility and understanding this year as we work to make sure Bay View, and all of Milwaukee, remain safe and healthy so we can emerge from this pandemic stronger than when we entered it.
I encourage neighbors to consider participating in the new-look Pumpkin Pavilion this year to show your Halloween spirit. More information on that event can be found at
