The Bay View Neighborhood Association has commenced a capital campaign to improve a public space (MPS Emigh Playfield, 495 E Morgan Ave.) and build Milwaukee's first Wheel Park – designed for skateboards, BMX bikes, scooters and skates. The project includes improving existing infrastructure in addition to the proposed wheel park elements. Click here to take the survey to tell us which components you think are the most important! The community continues to raise capital funds to complete this $200,000 investment. Currently, Milwaukee is the only city in the United States’ 30-most-populated-cities to not have a wheel-friendly public space for youth and adults. The BVNA believes in nurturing and improving safe spaces for youth activities. This project would set a precedent to other metro-Milwaukee neighborhoods and demonstrate the importance of keeping neighbors active, or engaged as spectators, through creating a new community epicenter of sports and wheels. |
